East Coast Doka Alumni Profile: "Olive 1" 1985 VW Transporter Doka
Bob L. from outside Philly saw Olive on tour with a friend from New Jersey who had taken her out to show her New York City and the NJ Shore as she was new to the country. Bob couldn't get her off his mind, and after persuading his wife that she would be a good fit with the family (be patient, this can take time), he contacted us to profess his love. She had finished her tour and was back up in NH, so he booked a ticket and we picked him up at the airport.
Bob had plans for Olive and dove right in: "Olive has been great. I did some rust repair on the front seams, repainted, re-did the headliner and replaced the windshield. I just lowered the front end and installed some Fuchs this week - I smile everytime I look at her now". Looking at these pictures, so do we.
Bob re-did the interior, door cards and took the frame and canvas off. Bob tells us he has future plans for a TDI engine swap as well. He sums it up this way: "Olive is a very cool rig - and sparked a bunch of conversations at the Diesel pumps. She's been a great addition and is extremely dependable."
We like to hear that....
Recent update from Bob: I have been keeping Olive busy putting an addition on my house and going to the occasional car show - nice to have one vehicle that can do both things. I attached some more pics - you can see the Olive that I painted on the plate on the tailgate in one. I bought a TDI engine last month, so I hope to get the swap done this fall.
